The motorcycle landed on top of Wingate, who was not wearing a helmet, according to Department of Public Safety Trooper Gregory Hair.

Hair said no skid marks were found at the scene, and there were no indications any other vehicles were involved.

He also said it’s unclear how long Wingate’s body laid on the side of the road or when Wingate died. Hair said CR 3424 is not a frequently traveled road, so the body could have been there a couple of hours before it was discovered.

Funeral for Wingate is is 2 p.m. Thursday at Balsora Baptist Church with burial at Willow Point Cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
