Auditions to be held for ‘Messiah’ chorus

By Messenger Staff | Published Saturday, September 21, 2013

The Wise County Chorale is being created to perform the Christmas portion of Handel’s “Messiah” with the choral and orchestral forces of Handel’s time: a chorus of 20-24 singers, a small orchestra with Baroque instruments, and two harpsichords.

Auditions for the chorus and the solos will be held Sunday afternoon, Oct. 6, from 2-6 at First United Methodist Church in Decatur. Singers should prepare a song, aria, or other vocal piece, and will be asked to sightread a piece comparable to the choral pieces in Messiah.

Contact Lenora McCroskey for an audition time: lenora430@gmail.com.

The performance will be Dec. 15, at 4 p. m. at First United Methodist Church at 104 South Miller St. in Decatur.
