The 22nd Annual Adopt-A-Fisherman Day is Saturday, June 1, on Lake Bridgeport at Wise County Park.
Tournament registration starts at 7:15 a.m., and fishing starts at 8. All fishermen must be signed in at Wise County Park Pavilion prior to starting to fish. Weigh-in ends at 11 a.m.
The event is open to kids ages 1 to 16, and they will compete within the following age divisions: 1 to 5; 6 to 8; 9 to 12; and 13 to 16. Prizes will be given for the three heaviest fish in each age division. Each fisherman may weigh in only one fish.
Adults may bring a youth participant or just show up and help kids fish along the shoreline or from your boat. Loaner fishing gear for kids will be available on site, as well as bait and life jackets. Kids will receive a free tournament T-shirt, and a free hot dog lunch will be served after weigh-in.
Adopt-A-Fisherman Day is hosted by Hell’s Gate Bass Club and Texas Field and Stream of Wichita Falls. Many other groups sponsor the event including Texas Game Warden Association, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Tarrant Regional Water District, Wise County Public Works, Bridgeport Lions Club and the Sportsmen and Conservation Club, as well as numerous local businesses.
