Robert and Jo Linda Garrett of Pottsboro, formerly of Decatur, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception hosted by their children 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at Parkside Baptist Church Recreation Outreach Center in Denison. The family requests no gifts.
Robert and the former Jo Linda Giles were married June 21, 1963, at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Bridgeport by Bro. Ernie Perkins. Attendants were Connie Holt of Georgetown and Homer D. Garrett, father of the groom.
They have three sons: Barry Garrett and wife, Alyssa, of Decatur, Monte Garrett and wife, Tricia, of Brownwood and Scott Garrett of Washington, D.C.; and three grandsons, Wil, Jack and Giles.
Robert was born in Bridgeport to Homer D. and Addine Garrett. He graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1960 and retired as a distribution superintendent for Texas Power & Light (later TXU) after 32 years.
Jo Linda was born in Clovis, N.M., to J.E. and Alma Faye Giles. She graduated from Bridgeport High in 1963 and retired in 2001 after working as a school secretary for Denison Independent School District.
Both are members of Parkside Baptist Church, where he serves as a deacon and Sunday School teacher and she is a member of the choir.
