Danny and Megan Laverty of Decatur announce the birth of a son, Slade Cason, on Jan. 2, 2013, at Wise Regional Health System in Decatur. He weighed 7 pounds, 1 ounce and was 18 1/2 inches long.

He has two brothers: Jackson Paul, 7, and Gordon Kash, 1.

Grandparents are Gordon and Barbie Laverty and Louise Johnson, all of Decatur; and Danielle and David Johnson of Hixson, Tenn.

Great-grandparents are Eddie Lane of Bridgeport, Bill and Sue Crunk of Decatur, Aaron and Claudetta Laverty of Mobeetie and Kenneth and Elaine Johnson of Mineola.
