Rebecca Mengel and Jeremiah Hammarbeck of Boyd announce the birth of a son, Samson Hammarbeck, on Jan. 18, 2013, at Wise Regional Health System in Decatur. He weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces and was 19 inches long.

Grandparents are Dara Tuck of Arlington; Wade Mengel of Big Bend, Wis., and Nora Hammarbeck and John Hammarbeck, both of Boyd.

Great-grandparents are Daryl Shay of Havre, Mont., Marsha and Roger Petersen of Arlington and W.T. Owens of Fort Worth.
