Warren Austin Stogner, 89, died Saturday, March 9, 2013, in Decatur.
Funeral is 2 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at Pleasant Grove Cowboy Church with the Rev. Richard Carman officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery No. 1, next to the church. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.
Pallbearers will be Chad Byford, David Byford Jr., Corey Stogner, Heather Carman, Roger Sellers, Matthew Ferrell and Tyler Beard.
Warren was born Oct. 21, 1923, in Hastings, Okla., to Doyle Trace and May (McGee) Stogner. He was united in marriage to Ruby Arlene Ferrell Dec. 22, 1956, and was married 47 years at her death in November 2003. Mr. Stogner was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Warren served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded three bronze stars. He was a retired heavy equipment operator, a full-time farmer and was a member of the Pleasant Grove Cowboy Church.
Survivors include his son, Larry Stogner and wife, Paula, of Farmersville; daughters Linda Stogner, Paula Carman and Sandra Stogner, all of Decatur; grandchildren Shannon Beard and husband, Tyler, Corey Stogner and wife, Jill, Leslie McBride, Michelle Schurman, Deana Starnes, Richard Carman and wife, Niki, Heather Carman, David Byford Jr., Chad Byford and wife, Kimberly, and Adrienne Sellers and husband, Roger; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; brother D.T. Stogner and wife, Lynda, of Trophy Club; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
