Sterling Ray Kenyon Jr., 49, of Bridgeport, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at home.
Memorial service is 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport with Glen Walden and Shay Giddens officiating.
Ray was born April 14, 1964, in Castro Valley, Calif., to Vera Esther “Rocky” Bennett and Sterling Ray Kenyon Sr. He was a media (music and photography) technician who retired from Smiley’s Photography in Fort Worth.
He had a great love and knowledge of music and sports. Baseball was a passion, and he made a hobby of traveling with his mother (his best friend) all over the United States on his birthday each year so he could eventually see all the ballparks. He attended over 150 music concerts where he met many admirable people. He enjoyed life to the fullest.
John Wayne was his idol, and he was an honorable man like “The Duke.” He frequently said he was born in California but got to Texas as quickly as he could. His No. 1 love was family.
Ray is survived by his parents, Rocky and Glenn Lee; sister Stacey Giddens; and nephews Justin Bush, Shay Giddens and Dahlton Giddens.
He was preceded in death by his father; sister Tammy Bush; brother Eddie Lee; nephew Kris Giddens; and grandparents Mr. and Mrs. B.L. Kenyon and Mary White.
