Robert ‘Stoney’ Stone

Robert “Stoney” Stone, 84, died Sunday, May 19, 2013, in Decatur.

Service is 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, at the St. Peter Lutheran Church with Larry Knobloch officiating.

Burial will follow in the St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery in Bowie under the direction of White Family Funeral Home in Bowie.

Robert was born July 2, 1928, in Harrold to Jesse H. and Edith Trisler Stone. He graduated from Harrold High School and worked for W.T. Waggoner Ranch. He served in the Oklahoma National Guard and the United States Army as a tank driver during the Korean War.

Robert lived in Corpus Christi and worked at the Suntide Refinery, then moved to Knox City and worked for City Service Oil and Gas Plant for 30 years. He married Syble Sharp Oct. 17, 1958. Robert enjoyed gardening and canning.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Edith Stone; and his wife, Syble.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Rita Benham and husband, Lonny, of Bridgeport; son Robert James Stone of Lewisville; grandson Robert Dylan Stone Benham of Bridgeport; brother James H. Stone and wife, Evelyn, of Hattiesburg, Miss.; and niece Janis Krokum and husband, Mike, of Chillicothe, Ill.
