Robbie Gene Graves | 1932-2013

Robbie Gene Graves, 81, died Thursday, July 18, 2013, in Wichita Falls.

Funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at Aurora Baptist Church with Randy Slimp and Jimmy Withers officiating.

Graveside service will follow at 4 p.m. at Kerens Cemetery in Kerens with burial under the direction of White Family Funeral Home of Bowie.

Robbie was born March 3, 1932, to Floyd and Zella (Coleman) Graves in Kerens. He graduated from Kerens High School and later from Texas Tech University with a master’s degree in range nutrition.

Robbie served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War. He was a lifelong rancher in Rhome and Bowie, and he also worked for the Bureau of Land Management for five years in Colorado. He enjoyed flying his plane and raising cattle.

He will be remembered with love and appreciation for his devotion as a husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Zella Graves; son Kent Graves; brothers Virgil Lee Graves and Billy Bob Graves; and sister Lamarlys Gilson.

Robbie is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Graves of Wichita Falls; sons Keith Graves and wife, Rebecca, of Bowie and Kurt Graves and wife, Thelma, of Rhome; grandchildren Lyndsie Smith and husband, Joe, of Trophy Club, Robyn Peterson and husband, Robbie, of Ardmore, Okla., Kelsie Jones and husband, Jason, of Trophy Club, Kyle Graves of Austin, Kody Graves of Ames, Iowa, and Ethan and Emma Graves of Rhome; great-grandchildren Dominic and Birkleigh Graves; brother-in-law Robert Gilson of Arlington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
