Ralph Bernard “Hop” Hopson Sr., 88, died March 26 in Deatsville, Ala.

He was born March 7, 1925, in Decatur.

Funeral was March 28 at Mitts Chapel in Deatsville and was officiated by Glenn Goggins. Burial was April 6 at Forest Park Westheimer in Houston and was officiated by Dalton Currie.

Hop was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, an avid golfer and an honorary First Class Boy Scout with Troup 185.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Wanna Hopson Elliott.

Hop is survived by his wife, Margie Todd-Hopson; children Butch and wife, Sheryl, Wayne, and Linda; stepchildren Sharon Yarbrough and husband, Doug, Richard Todd and wife, Sally, and Sheila Yarbrough and husband, Don; sister Bobbie Hopson Wilhite; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
