Penny Ann Best, 58, of Kingston, Okla., died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Ardmore, Okla.
Service is 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Multipurpose Building in Kingston, Okla., under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. Chris Webb will officiate.
Penny was born June 1, 1955, in Bridgeport to the late Earl Hardy Rutherford and Wanna Veanett Inman Rutherford. She was raised in Rhome and graduated in 1973 from Northwest High School.
In 1978, she moved to the Kingston area where she worked for INCA. She went to work for the Kingston Public Schools in 1997 and was still employed there. She also worked at the Bar B Q Shack for the past eight years.
Penny married James R. Best Oct. 24, 1980, in Madill, Okla. He preceded her in death on June 23, 2012. Penny was a member of the Baptist Church and was baptized Saturday in the hospital. She loved her grandkids and her horses.
She is survived by her children, John R. Best and wife, Kendra, of Panama City, Fla., and Sherry Best of Kingston, Okla.; grandchildren Tory Best of Waco, Karie Best of Panama City, Fla., Declan Best and Rae-Ann Best, both of Kingston, Okla.; and sisters Shawnda Faust and Karen Long, both of Boyd.
Penny was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
