Melvan Dale Young, 66, of Riverside, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, in Conroe, peacefully surrounded by his loved ones.
Melvan was born March 6, 1947, in Odessa to Robert “Bob” and Marjorie Louise Young. He was the third of five children. He graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1965 and spent his career as an application engineer for Scandura. He’s been retired 10 years.
Melvan was gifted at telling stories and making loved ones feel special. He was an avid history enthusiast and a huge Dallas Cowboy fan.
Survivors include his wife, Petie Young, of Riverside; daughters Melissa McReynolds and husband, Don, of Pilot Point, Angela Young Harper of Tampa, Fla., Tami Molina and husband, Matt, of Denton and Kristina Young of Frisco; brother Bob Young and wife, Brenda, of Riverside; sister Sharon Throneberry and husband, Harmon, of Watauga; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Tommy Young; and sister Diane Young Arant.
In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated at Brooke Funeral Services in Huntsville. A celebration of life service will be planned for a later date.
