Melissa Jean Capps, 36, of Chico, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, in Decatur.
Funeral was Aug. 27 at First Baptist Church of Chico with Pastor Edward Edington officiating. Pallbearers were Larry Caldwell, Glynn Caldwell, Johnnie Capps, Rudy Engleke, Larry Mader and Larry Flowers, and honorary pallbearers were Steve Misner and Ben Remmele.
Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery No. 3 east of Chico under the direction of Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
Melissa was born Aug. 11, 1977, in Fort Worth to Helen (Caldwell) and James Capps. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chico. She was a greeter at the church, and her occupation was “hugging.” She enjoyed baking, singing, travel, “being bossy,” spending time with family and going to church. She was a Special Olympian.
She is survived by her parents; sister Mello-Dee Capps of Wichita Falls; and grandparents June and James Caldwell of Chico.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Lillie and Melton Capps Sr.
