Martha Jane Hill, 88, a retired postmistress, died Saturday, March 30, 2013, in Bridgeport.
Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 6, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna, Ill., with burial in Whiteside Cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The Rev. Pete Vinson will officiate, and pallbearers include Dr. David Ray, Jerry Offerman, Charley Lanfear, Tim Whiteside, Josh Hill and Tyler Duhon.
Jane was born July 21, 1924, in Ozark, Ill., to Dewey and Lola (Stone) Parker. She retired from the United States Postal Service as postmistress.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Sherman Whiteside; her second husband, Robert C. Hill; and her son, John F. Whiteside.
Survivors include her daughter, Sue Ray and husband, Dr. David Ray, of Bridgeport; sons Jerry Whiteside and wife, Katrina, of Indianapolis, and Robert Allen Hill and wife, Mary Ann, of Lockport, Ill.; stepdaughters Greta Chitwood and husband, Ed, of St. Louis, Mo., and Gloria Baker and husband, Homer, of Vienna; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters Icy Taylor of Peoria, Ill., Ethel Odun and husband, Wayne, of Vienna; daughter-in-law Mary Jane Whiteside; other family members and a host of friends.
