Mark Edward Faris, 48, of Bridgeport died Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at his home after a long battle with colon cancer.
Funeral is 3 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at Hawkins Funeral Home with burial in East Bridgeport Cemetery. Gerre Joiner will officiate.
Pallbearers include Scott Phillips, Chris Faris, Bryce King, Leonard Kostyak, Trey Hawkins and Jerold Mitchell.
Mark was born Oct. 14, 1964, in West Palm Beach, Fla., to William “Bill” and Catherine Lee (Storey) Faris. He married Deborah Shawn Ronk Sept. 10, 1994, in Fort Worth. Mark was on the board of directors for the Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce from 1998-99.
He graduated from Texas Wesleyan University with a Juris Doctorate May 11, 2013. Mark was also a recipient of the MacLean Boulware Award for exemplary moral and ethical character. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who always made time for his family.
He was preceded in death by his father and aunt, Shelly.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Faris of Bridgeport; son Chris Faris of Austin; daughters Jennifer Hawkins and husband, Trey, of Decatur, and India Faris of Austin; grandchildren Camryn Evans, Hollyn Hawkins and Carter Hawkins; mother Catherine Lee of Boyton Beach, Fla; sister Lisa DeLeon of California; aunt Bonnie Scripps of Montana, and a host of friends.
