Maria Del Socorro Rivas, 48, a cook at Chicken Express, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, in Decatur.

Graveside service was Jan. 5 at Oaklawn Cemetery with Father Jacob Alvares officiating.

Maria was born April 10, 1964, in Zaragoza, Coahuila, Mexico. She married Juan Rivas on March 9, 1985, in Zaragoza. Maria was a member of the Catholic church.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Juan Rivas of Decatur; sons Johnny Rivas and wife, Stephanie, of Rhome and Jeffrey and Orlando Rivas, both of Decatur; grandchildren Kody, Elissa and Hazel; brothers Guadalupe, Hector, Gilberto, Cristobal, Javier and Sergio Rodriguez, all of Decatur, Victor Rodriguez of San Antonio and Jorge Rodriguez of Zaragoza; sisters Maria Isabel Rodriguez, Margarita Valenzuela, Guadalupe Lara, Guillerminia Rodriguez, Maria de Jesus Fernandez and Esperanza Rodriguez, all of Decatur, and Virginia Ibarra and Maria del Refugio Rodriguez of Zaragoza.
