Levon Curtis Franks, 87, of Avinger, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at his home.
Funeral was Jan. 8 at the Macedonia Baptist Church with Bro. Shawn Thrapp officiating and assisted by Bro. Joe Owens. Burial was in Macedonia Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home Inc. of Magnolia.
Levon was born Sept. 24, 1925, in Macedonia, Ark., to the late Dewey and Maybelle Etta (Foreman) Franks and was a retired supervisor for Occidental Petroleum Corp. He was a former member of the Macedonia Baptist Church in the community where he was raised and a member of the Lake O’the Pines Baptist Church in Avinger.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Alene (Massey) Franks.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Dorothy Childs Franks of Avinger; daughter Karen Franks Hardee and husband,Vernon, of Avinger; son Curtis Franks and wife, Teri, of Kilgore; stepdaughter Phyllis Bice and husband, Robert, of Maybank; stepson Mike R. Childs and wife, Teri, of Edmond, Okla.; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers Leo Franks and Bo Franks, both of Macedonia, Ark.; sister Wilma Pearce of Magnolia; several nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
