Funeral services for Leon Nantz, 66, of Mt. Vernon will be held 2 p.m. Monday, April 1 at the Harvey Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Bryan Tema officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Leon was born on Aug. 31, 1946 in Jacksboro, the son of Elihew and Lola May Fain Nantz. He married Jewel Marie Butler in Oklahoma on April 17, 1963 and she preceded him in death on May 9, 2011.
He served in the U.S. Army and worked in trucking and ranching industry.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Sherry and Craig Johnson of Quitman, and Kim and Bodie Read of Aubrey; four granddaughters: Paige Stout and husband, Taylor; Maci Read, Neiman Johnson, and Cloye Johnson; and a sister, Sue Fussell of Fort Worth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, E.J. Nantz, and two sisters, Lavera Baudat and Betty Pearson.
