Larry Ronald “Ron” Carter, 69, of Shelton, Wash., died while undergoing hospital care in Shelton on Sunday Jan. 27, 2013, from continuing complications of heart disease.
Ron was born Dec. 26, 1943, in Douglas, Ariz. Although he spent his earliest years in Arizona, he lived almost all of his life in the southern Puget Sound area, mainly in Shelton.
He was a graduate of Clover Park High School in Lakewood, Wash., and briefly served in the U.S. Navy before returning to Shelton, where he lived more than 50 years.
Ron worked as a tree harvester for many years and later as a dishwasher until his retirement. His interests included model railroading, clock tinkering and home entertainment. He had been actively involved with the Exceptional Foresters organization since its inception.
Ron is survived by his mother, Rebecca Bowers of Decatur; and brothers John S. Schreiber of Olympia, Wash., and Donald A. Schreiber of Warren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Edward Carter of Loma Linda, Calif.
