Katie Marie Calhoun Stevens, 58, a teacher, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, in Decatur.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken May, Gerre Joiner and Stephen Wren officiating. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Donald Bryant, Larry Bryant, Jim Bryant, Dale Calhoun, Butch Calhoun, Brad Calhoun and Randy Bennett.
Katie was born July 11, 1954, in Gainesville to Weldon Ben and Betty Evelyn (Bryant) Calhoun. She married Charles Louis Stevens Dec. 28, 1976, in Greenwood.
Katie was a graduate of Slidell High School and of East Texas State University, where she received her bachelor’s in education. She began her 32-year career in teaching at Montague ISD and also taught in the Nocona and Decatur school districts. Katie was a member of Relay for Life of Wise County, Susan G. Komen of North Texas and First Baptist Church in Decatur.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Stevens; daughters Kristi Stevens of Frisco and Courtney Stevens of Decatur; mother Betty Calhoun of Decatur; and brother James Calhoun and friend, Debra Lester, of Krum; and numerous other family members and a host of friends.
