James “Jim” Allen, 86, a retired bookkeeper for H&N Machine, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, in Fort Worth.
Funeral is 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd. Rev. Dale Noska will officiate, and there will be a private burial at Hog Branch Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
James was born Dec. 1, 1926, to Edward and Sonora (Miller) Allen in Fort Worth. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy during WWII. He graduated from Texas Wesleyan College in Fort Worth with a bachelor’s degree. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Eloise Sewell and Viva Swearingin; and one brother, Dan Allen.
Survivors include his son, Timothy Doyle Allen of Lake Worth, Fla.; nieces and nephews Joan Gotcher of Fort Worth, Jim Kemp of North Richland Hills, Phillip Swearingin of Salem, Ore., Gena Pla of Madras, Ore., Debbie Purcell of Jonesboro, Ark. and John Allen of Salem; many great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
