James Floyd Meador

James Floyd Meador, 70, of Decatur died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, in Decatur.

Funeral is 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur with the Rev. Bill Cleveland officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery No. 1.

Pallbearers are Tommy Shults, Michael White, Larry Gage, Chris Forbis, Chad Short and Clifton North.

Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Berg, Kenneth Peel, Morris Vess and Ronnie Saunders.

James was born Oct. 1, 1943, in Decatur to Floyd D. and Margaret Elizabeth (Caraway) Meador. He married Evelyn Darlene Hardee Jan. 5, 1962, in Decatur. James worked for Cocanougher Feed Mill Co. for 13 years. He then went to Roche Vitamins and Fine Chemicals in Fort Worth as supervisor and retired after 29 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Evelyn Meador; daughter Cathy Meador Brown and husband, Jonathan (Bubba), of Alvord; sons Ricky Meador and wife, Debra, of Alvord, Jeff Meador and wife, Stormie, of Decatur and Tony Meador and wife, Brandi, of Hewitt; granddaughters Britney Meador Hurmence and husband, Anthony, of Aubrey, Taylor Meador of Alvord, Maci Meador of Hewitt and Scotlan Meador of Decatur; grandsons Jeremy Meador and wife, Jessica, and Justin Meador and wife, Naudia, all of Alvord, Chance Meador of Hewitt and Braiden Meador and Alec Meador, both of Decatur.

He is also survived by great-granddaughters Jaidyn and Tensley Meador, both of Alvord; step-granddaughters Shawnda Brown Harrell of Whitesboro and Andi and Molly Brown of Celina; step-grandson Blake Crawford of Tennessee; brothers Wiley Meador and wife, Suzette, Donald Meador and wife, Barbara, and Roy Meador and wife, Linda, all of Decatur; sisters Dorothy Lambert of Boyd and Joyce Rich and husband, Curtis, of Paradise; father-in-law Ed Hardee of Decatur; brother-in-law Steve Holland of Decatur; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents; son Randy Meador of Denton; and sisters Vera Moore, Bobbie Stone and Bonnie Holland, all of Decatur.
