J.M. Brooks, 77, of Decatur died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, in Decatur.
Funeral is 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, at First Baptist Church of Decatur with Dr. Wm. Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Thomas Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Carl Fennell, Johnathan Fennell, Matt Bush, Cory Brooks Rendon, Gary Green and Keven Herndon. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Williams, Bud Buck, Alton Smith, Boy Smith and James Hodges.
J.M. was born April 21, 1936, in Decatur to John and Margaret (Hawkins) Brooks. He married Barbara Mitchell May 28, 1976, in Montague County. J.M. served his country in the United States Navy, and he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Decatur. J.M. and was a mechanic at Brooks Truck Specialty.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Barbara Mitchell.
He is survived by his daughters, Deneise Walker and husband, Clay, of Bridgeport and Julie Brooks of Fort Worth; son Ray Brooks of South Texas; grandchildren Ashley Bush and husband, Matt, Cory Brooks Rendon, Maegan Flavin and Kaetlyn Flavin; great-grandchild Taylor Bush; other family members; and a host of friends.
