Idell Cordelia Swindle

Idell Cordelia Swindle, 84, a homemaker, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, in Decatur.

Funeral is 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Bridgeport with burial in West Bridgeport Cemetery.

The Rev. Gary Dimmit will officiate. Pallbearers include Aaron Edington, Curt Edington, Michael Swindle, Kail Swindle, John Simpson and Austin Lacy.

Idell was born March 10, 1928, to James and Estella (Whitsett) Bailey in Malakoff. She married Jack Swindle May 4, 1946, in Dallas. He preceded her in death in 2005.

Idell was a homemaker and worked in the cafeteria at Wilshire Elementary School. She was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church, Women’s DFW Auxiliary, Red Hat Society and Bridgeport Senior Citizens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include her son, Cordell Swindle and wife, Linda, of Bridgeport; daughter Evelyn Edington and husband, Wilton, of Bridgeport; grandchildren Melissa Swindle of Dallas, Kail and Amber Swindle of Oakton, Va., Julie Edington of Bridgeport, Kathleen and Scott Siek of Hurst, Aaron and Melissa Edington of Grand Prairie, Curt and Emily Edington of Grand Prairie, and Michael Swindle of North Richland Hills; eight great-grandchildren; sisters Cleo Hammonds of Bridgeport and Linda Duke and husband, Charles, of Chico; brother Claude Bailey and wife, Margaret, of Chico; other family members and a host of friends.
