Gladys Irene Cadenhead Gott, died Thursday, July 18, 2013, in Mineola.
Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 21, at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola. Funeral is 10 a.m. Monday, July 22, at the funeral home with the Rev. Van Christian officiating.
Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Paradise Cemetery in Wise County.
Gladys was born Aug. 29, 1915, in Proctor, the youngest child of Rosa Dallas and James Clanton Cadenhead. She grew up in the country with two brothers and three sisters.
She married Charlie Gott Nov. 26, 1932, in Erick, Okla., and remained his bride for 63 years.
Gladys was a happy homemaker, who enjoyed cooking and sewing for her husband, three children and her only granddaughter. She worked for Hemphill-Wells in the gift wrapping department and did testing for the Cotton Co-op in Lubbock.
She was a dedicated Christian and kept her children in church and taught them by example to love and serve the Lord.
Charlie and Gladys moved to Paradise in 1978 to be close to their son and his family. Charlie died May 26, 1996, and Gladys moved to Mineola in October 1997, spending the last years of her life at Wood Memorial Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, two brothers, a son-in-law and a granddaughter-in-law.
She is survived by her children, Betty Leming, Earlene and Gary Brown and Butch and Sue Gott, all of Mineola; five grandsons; one granddaughter; three great-granddaughters; four great-grandsons; several nieces and nephews; and many good friends.
