Geraldine ‘Jerrie’ Brewer Jordan

Geraldine “Jerrie” Brewer Jordan, 67, a food service manager for Boyd ISD, died Monday, May 27, 2013, in Boyd.

Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 1, at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd with burial in Boyd Cemetery. Bro. John Sanders will officiate, and James Lunsford, Jefferson C. Lunsford, Robert Anthony Jordan, Randy G. Dennis, Mathew D. Lunsford and John Thomas Lunsford will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Baily Lunsford and Gabriel Lunsford.

Jerrie was born Jan. 13, 1946, to a preacher and his wife, Melborne and Hattie (Leachman) Brewer in the foothills of the Smokey Mountains. She was the youngest of 15 children. She married James R. Jordan Feb. 14, 1975, in El Paso.

A member of the Eastern Star, Jerrie was known for her candid spirit, blunt attitude and love for family and friends. She led a fruitful, community-driven life, giving almost two decades of work to the Boyd Independent School District.

Jerrie was an avid bowler and fondly referred to as “Mom” due to her leadership, nurturing characteristics, family orientation and the ability to guide whoever would listen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim; and 10 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her sons, James Lunsford and wife, Susan, Jefferson Lunsford and wife, Michele, and Randy G. Dennis, all of Boyd, and Robert A. Jordan of Wichita Falls; daughter Karen Libcap of Dayton, Ohio; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers; two sisters; other family members and a host of friends.
