Gary Don Carpenter | 1950-2013

Gary Don Carpenter, 63, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, in Park Springs.

Funeral is 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at Victory Baptist Church in Park Springs with burial to follow at Sunset Cemetery.

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at White Family Funeral Home in Bowie.

Gary was born March 31, 1950, in Decatur to E.W. and Wanda (Burchard) Carpenter. He graduated from Chico High School and continued to work for his family’s dairy farm.

Later, Gary received his commercial driver’s license and started driving trucks. He worked for Chico Crushed Stone as a loader for many years.

Gary married Jimmie Ruth Woods July 13, 1982, in Decatur. He enjoyed farming on his family’s home place and loved his dogs. He will be remembered with love and appreciation as a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, E.W. and Wanda Carpenter; granddaughter Ashley Lee; and his grandparents.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Jimmie Ruth Carpenter of Park Springs; children Kathy Gail Dominguez of Sunset, Karen Diane Ybarra and Danny of Sunset, Dewey Ray Carpenter and wife, Melissa, of Sunset, Gary West Carpenter and wife, Keisha, of Bowie and Chassidy Shawntelle Lee and husband, Clifton, of Millsap; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and brother Wayne Carpenter and wife, Georgia, of Alvord.
