Edward Lowell Schmalried, 94, of Alvord, a farmer and rancher, died Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, in Decatur.
Funeral is 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at the First Baptist Church of Alvord with the Rev. Bill Cleveland officiating. Graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Emerald Hills Cemetery in Kennedale. Visitation is 9 to 10 a.m. before the service at the church.
Pallbearers are Vic Czerniak, James Sullivan, David Goodwin, Melton Neighbors, Larry Nivens and Jack Garrison.
Edward was born Dec. 11, 1918, in New Ulm to Ritz and Minnie Rhine (Heart) Schmalried. He married Oneita Erin Gillentine July 7, 1941, and served in the United States Army during World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Oneita Schmalried of Alvord; brothers Durwood Schmalried of California and Frank Schmalried of Boyd; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
