Damon Bounds

Damon Bounds, 73, a retired machinist, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at his home in Springtown, surrounded by his loved ones while his favorite song, “Waltz Across Texas,” finished playing.

Memorial service is 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd. Visitation is noon to 1 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in DFW National Cemetery at a later date.

Damon was born May 5, 1940, in Eldorado to Raymond and Mary (Fowler) Bounds. He married Murtie Patterson March 20, 1992, in Decatur. Damon loved his cigars, family gatherings and looked forward to the Fourth of July celebration he and Murtie held at their home every year. He was a proud veteran and Morse code specialist for the United States Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Jordan.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Murtie Bounds of Springtown; daughters Christi Wilson of Houston, Penny York and husband, Chuck, of Pearland, Jenny Calles and husband, Johnny, of Pearland, and Shami Long and husband, Nathan, of Justin; stepson Kenny Grant II of Boyd; grandchildren Lauren, Brittany, Austin, Halie, Cailan, Madison and Bella; great-grandchild Brendie; sisters Karen Roberts and Evanna Hagler; other family members and a host of friends.
