Claud Porter Elsom Jr.

Claud Porter Elsom Jr., 80, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, in Decatur.

Funeral is 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at First Baptist Church of Decatur with Rev. Ken May officiating. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Tom Elsom, Mark Lambert, Michael Lambert, Mason Nicks, Joe Stockton and Tom Tumelty.

Claud was born Jan. 21, 1933, in Decatur to Claud Porter and Nora Lee (Morris) Elsom Sr. He married Alma Rae Edwards Feb. 23, 1952. Claud retired from the Texas Department of Transportation as an engineering tech. He was a 50-year member and a Master Mason at Decatur Lodge No. 447 and was a member of the Scottish Rite.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alma Elsom of Decatur; daughter Linda Lambert and husband, Neal O’Bannion, of Carrollton; son Claud “Buz” Elsom and wife, Jan, of Denton; grandchildren Chanci Nicks, Mark Lambert, Michael Lambert and Tom Elsom; great-grandchildren Wyatt, Reagan, Evelyn, Lucy, Annette and Amelia; sister Beth Stockton and husband, Wayne, of Decatur; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 1200 Preskitt Road, Decatur, TX 76234 or to the Wise County Historical Society, P.O. Box 427, Decatur, TX 76234.
