Clarence L. “Sonny” Keith, 80, of Bridgeport, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, in Decatur.
Funeral was Nov. 22 at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Decatur with Pastor Ron Fox officiating. Burial followed at East Bridgeport Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dr. Dan Selz, Glenn Rhine, Sonny Tackel, Foy Mitchell, Robert Grantham and Dan Rhine. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Hale, Bud Brandon and Clay Brandon.
Sonny was born April 12, 1933, in Breckenridge to Dorothy (Dillard) and Clarence C. Keith. He married LaDarla Walker in 1952 and together they raised their family in Bridgeport and Dallas. He was a “Chevy man” who worked for several Chevrolet dealerships in Texas.
He was also a service-oriented civic leader who was charter president of the Bridgeport Bullies Football Booster Club and a member of the Jaycees, as well as many other organizations. Sonny was an avid sports fan who loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He was also a worldwide traveler and loved spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Survivors are his wife of 61 years, LaDarla; daughters Mickie Gilmore, Karen Judd, Lisa Keith and Kimberley Yardley and their families; sister Marion Johnston; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Darrell Keith; sister Carolyn Nunn; and sister-in-law Glenda St. John.
