Charles Wendell Worthington, 87, of Rhome, a retired auditor, died Thursday, July 11, 2013.
Funeral is 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, at Aurora Baptist Church with Jimmy Withers officiating, assisted by Randy Slimp. Burial will follow at Aurora Cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Coker Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.
Pallbearers will be Steve Solomon, Terry Solomon, Kris Howard, Kevin Howard, Bradley Adcock, Ronnie Shockey, Mickey Reid and Kyle Copp.
Wendell was born Dec. 1, 1925, in Irene to Earnest Eastland and Ida Lillian (Greer) Worthington. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and married Mary Lou Isett on Dec. 17, 1947.
Wendell graduated from Texas Christian University in 1950 and served on the Northwest ISD School Board through the 1960s and 1970s. He was an auditor for TU Electric for 38 years and a member of the Aurora Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Worthington; sons Donny Worthington and wife, Peggy, and Mike Worthington and wife, Mona; daughter Lynn Snead and husband, Scott; brother Alvin Worthington and wife, Barbara; grandchildren Macy, David, John, Carly, Mary, and Josh; great-grandchildren Molly, Haley, Lilly, Kendall, Wyatt and Emery; other relatives and a host of friends.
