Betty Jane Manning, 78, a retired jailer, died Friday, March 22, 2013, in Boyd.

Memorial service is 2 p.m. Friday, March 29, at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd. The Rev. Mark Autry will officiate.

Betty was born July 5, 1934, to Loyd and Pauline (Lyons) Nichols in Dallas. She married G.W. Manning Jr. Sept. 23, 1950, in Wheatland. Betty retired from the Wise County Sheriff’s Office as a jailer and from TI Mostech as an electronic technician.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 61 years, G.W. Manning Jr.; brother Junior; and sisters Alene and Shirley.

She is survived by her sons, Mike Manning and wife, Josee, and Ronnie Manning and wife, Sherri, all of Boyd; daughters Valerie D. Brown of Tyler and Jacki A. Browning and husband, Nathan, of Seagoville; grandchildren Nicole Brown, Tony Manning, Ryan Manning, Michelle Browning, Junior Browning and Tonya Browning; great-grandchildren Skylar Brown, Lucas Manning, Peyton Manning, Brooke Manning, Zane Wood, Brylee Ramsey and Jake Ramsey; sisters Mickey McKanna of Dallas and Norma Patrick of Seagoville; other family members; and a host of friends.
