Alice Pearl Simpson, 80, a retired butcher, died Saturday, April 13, 2013, in Decatur.
Funeral was April 16 at First Baptist Church in Boyd with the Rev. T.B. Reid officiating, assisted by the Rev. Jimmy Arrington. Burial was at Boyd Cemetery under the direction of Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Harold Lisby, Andy Chapman, Tommy Smith, Mike Richardson, Edward Goldman and Shane Smith. Buddy Hunt was honorary pallbearer.
Alice was born Jan. 12, 1933, to William and Georgia Beulah (Smith) Smith in Wise County. She married Bill Simpson May 7, 1954, at the Assembly of God Church in Boyd. She was a butcher and meat wrapper for 25 years at Boyd Locker Plant and was a member of the Boyd Assembly of God Church and then the Family Worship Center in Decatur.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 58 years, Bill Simpson; and her sisters, Bernice Lisby and Opal Goldman.
She is survived by her son, Jerry Simpson and wife, Jennie; daughter Patricia Burdine and husband, David; grandchildren Justin Simpson, Jardin Simpson, Lonnie Hambrick, John Hambrick and Angel Burdine; brother George Smith and wife, Rose Anne; sister Sharon Chapman; other family members and a host of friends.
