Porter gets promotion

John Porter has been named the Partner in Charge of the Baker Botts law firm in Houston. Porter is the son of the late James and Mary Porter of Decatur and is a graduate of Decatur High School and Baylor University.

Porter has been with Baker Botts Houston office for 27 years and has earned top honors for representing clients on wealth management issues and widespread recognition as a leader in the field for tax litigation. He is currently a senior partner in the law firm’s tax department handling federal gift, estate and income tax litigation and has served many years on the firm’s admissions information committee.

Baker Botts is a 173-year-old international law firm of approximately 700 lawyers practicing throughout a network of 15 offices around the globe.
