VOTING CONTINUES RECORD PACE – A day after setting an early voting first day record, another record was possibly set yesterday when 1,366 people cast ballots in the Nov. 6 general election. That brought the two-day total to 2,351. Yesterday’s vote totals included 829 at the Decatur Civic Center, 336 at Rhome City Hall and 201 at the Bridgeport Law Enforcement Center. Early voting continues 8 a.m.-5 p.m. today at the three locations.

SCHOOL THREAT RUMORS – A rumor of an alleged planned shooting at Northwest High School that spun “out of control” yesterday was based on a false-alarm incident the week before. Last Monday, Oct. 15, district officials and law enforcement personnel pursued a verbal comment made by a student and determined there was no truth to what was said, according to Northwest ISD Director of Communications Lesley Weaver. Although no public announcement was made about the threat, rumors began circulating, prompting the school to make an announcement to students and parents yesterday. ROSS TRIAL PUSHED BACK – Suspended Precinct 4 County Commissioner Terry Ross’ trial has been moved from next week to January following his arrest on a new theft charge earlier this week. Ross is awaiting trial on charges of theft by a public servant and abuse of official capacity. The trial had originally been scheduled for Oct. 30.

MARY’S GIFT DAY – Free mammogram screening, fully funded by Mary’s Gift, for eligible women and men is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the women’s health services center at Wise Regional Health System in Decatur. Make an appointment by calling (940) 626-1384. Space is limited.

HEALTH FORUM TO MEET – The Wise County Health Forum meets 9 a.m. Thursday at the Weatherford College Wise County campus on U.S. 380 between Decatur and Bridgeport. The main parking lot is on the north side of the building, and the group will meet in the dining hall.

HAUNTED HOUSE – Alvord Project Graduation Class of 2013 Haunted House is 6:30 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, and 6:30 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the old Alvord Middle School, behind Alvord Express. Admission is $5.

SKEET SHOOT – Paradise Ag Supporters’ 4th Annual Skeet Shoot is 9 a.m. Saturday in Paradise, 782 CR 3342. Proceeds benefit Paradise FFA, projects and a scholarship fund. The family event is a wolf-chase format with separate stations for adults and youth shooters. There will be gun giveaways, drawings and prizes, a concession stand and a free meal for all shooters. BENEFIT EXPO – Citibank in Decatur is having a Business Expo 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday featuring local, small businesses, and a portion of the proceeds benefits the Spirit of Christmas. There will be shopping, raffles and door prizes.

FALL FEST – The Paradise PTO Fall Fest is 5:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Paradise Elementary School. There will be food, games, bingo, hayrides and a silent auction.

BENEFIT BOOT CAMP – The Carry Hope Boot Camp is 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Renshaw Park in Decatur. Cost is $20, and all proceeds will benefit a medical missions trip to Nepal. Additional donations will also be accepted. For more information, visit carryhope.org.

BENEFIT FOR WRECK VICTIM – A benefit account has been opened at The Community Bank in Bridgeport for Michael Bible of Bridgeport. Bible was seriously injured in a car accident earlier this month in Oklahoma. Donations may be made to the “Michael Bible Medical Account.” Chili’s restaurant in Decatur will also donate 10 percent of all proceeds to the family Nov. 2-4.

FUNERAL for Allan Lane Delozier, 65, formerly of Decatur is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family visitation is 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
