EXTENDED HOURS VOTING – Polls opened at 7 a.m. and will remain open until 7 p.m. today for early voting in the Nov. 6 general election. Yesterday, 439 voted at the Decatur Civic Center, 176 at Rhome City Hall and 164 at the Bridgeport Law Enforcement Center.

SMOKED MEAT FUNDRAISER – Grace Baptist Church in Decatur is selling smoked turkeys for $35, hams for $40 and briskets for $45 for their annual benevolence fundraiser. The meats will be smoked on the church parking lot Friday, Nov. 9. Pre-order before Friday by calling (940) 627-7558.

COSTUME PARADE – “Suit Up and Say Boo” costume parade and trick or treating is Wednesday down Halsell Street in Bridgeport. Participants will meet at the Duckwall’s parking lot at 5 p.m. For more information, call (940) 683-3400.

TRICK OR TREAT – Decatur Senior Care at 701 W. Bennett invites the community to trick or treat 6 to 7:30 tonight.

RHOME TRICK OR TREAT – Rhome Parks and Recreation is having trick or treat 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Family Park located at 400 Virginia Lane.

GOLF TOURNAMENT – The Decatur Junior Woman’s Club 21st annual “Park Classic” Golf Tournament is Friday at the Decatur Country Club. Registration is at 11 a.m. and play begins at noon. Entry fee for the four-person team scramble is $300 or $400 for all-inclusive that includes two mulligans per person ($5 each) and poker run entry ($15 per person). Payout to winner is $250, and cash prizes will be awarded to first, second, seventh, last, longest drive and closest to the pin. Sponsors are also needed. Levels include Club House – $500; food – $400; beverage – $250; hole – $100; and raffle/silent auction and goody bag items. CANDLELIGHT VIGIL – A candlelight vigil in honor of domestic violence victims and survivors is 7 tonight at Harwood Park in Bridgeport. The event is hosted by Wise Hope Shelter and Crisis Center. FALL FESTIVAL – Governor’s Ridge Retirement and Assisted Living will host an indoor fall festival 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at 300 E. Deveraux in Decatur. Attendants are encouraged to wear costumes. There will be food, games, candy and prizes.

MONEY RAFFLE – Wise Regional Hospital Auxiliary is gearing up for its annual holiday store and selling raffle tickets for a “$500 bag of money.” Tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and are available at the hospital information desk in the WRHS lobby or from any volunteer. Drawing is Monday, Dec. 3.

ORGANIC FARMING SEMINAR – Texas Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association is presenting its Farmer Education Series, Organics From the Ground Up, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Rose Creek Farms, 418 CR 2788, in Sunset. The workshop is designed for anyone interested in farming or gardening. Topics include soils and compost, poultry management, certified naturally grown, crop rotation and pasture management, marketing and land availability. FUNERAL for Emory Boaldin, 81, of Newark is 11 a.m. today at Newark Church of Christ with burial at Dido Cemetery. Coker-Hawkins is handling arrangements.

FUNERAL for Bobby Neal Russell Sr., 73, of Decatur is 2 p.m. Saturday at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Jaybird Cemetery. Family visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
