WISE REGIONAL BIDDING TO BUY BRIDGEPORT HOSPITAL – Wise Regional Health System has made a bid to purchase Bridgeport’s North Texas Community Hospital, which will file Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in a Fort Worth federal court today or Wednesday. The Decatur Hospital Authority board met Monday night and approved an offer of $20 million that includes $19 million in bonded debt to pay for the building, equipment and other assets. The Bridgeport hospital’s board has already met and approved the deal, which will keep the hospital open as part of Wise Regional Health System. Under terms of the bankruptcy agreement, if another bidder emerges, an auction could be held, but Wise Regional would still have the option to meet any offer. If it is the successful bidder, Wise Regional plans to maintain hospital services in Bridgeport without closing the facility, achieving savings by combining management and other functions. The other $1 million is to provide operating funds at NTCH for the up to 135 days it could take to complete the transaction. Read more in the midweek Wise County Messenger on news stands tomorrow.
