AUDIT APPROVED – The Northwest School Board Monday approved the district’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (independent audit) for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2012. Haynes and Associates P.C. rendered the district’s financial statements “fairly presented in conformity with GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles).” The independent audit is part of a broader, federally mandated “Single Audit” designed to meet the special need of federal grantor agencies.

CHAMBER LUNCHEON – The Bridgeport Area Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon is 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Bridgeport Community Center (1102 Lawdwin Ave.). Sabrina Easley with Oncor Electric Delivery, will present a program on energy efficiency tips for the business or home. Sponsor is The Community Bank. Lunch, catered by Banezensky’s BBQ is $10.

DUMPSITES CLOSED – County dumpsites (Boyd, Cottondale, and Chico) will be closed for the holiday on Wednesday. They will reopen regular hours (7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.) the following business day.

HEALTH FORUM TO MEET – The Wise County Health Forum will meet 9 a.m. Thursday in the Decatur City Hall Community Room.

CROSSROADS OF HISTORY – The Bridgeport Historical Society and Bridgeport ISD students will present the Crossroads of History 7 p.m. Thursday at the Bridgeport Stage. The fun and educational event will explain the significance of the Butterfield Overland Stage and other trails that have traversed the area. Admission is free.

SCV MEETING – The Sons of Confederate Veterans meet at 7 tonight in the Wesley Center of the First Methodist Church in Decatur. Kerry Clower of the Wise County Historical Society will present the program.

COMMISSIONERS TO MEET – Wise County commissioners meet 9 a.m. today in the third-floor conference room of the courthouse in Decatur. They will meet again Thursday at 9 to canvass the votes from last week’s general election.

QUILT RAFFLE – The Wise County Historical Society will raffle a quilt donated to the museum by the Wise County Quilt Guild. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20 and are available at the museum. The drawing is Thursday, but you do not need to be present to win.

LUNCHEON – The Trail Blazers Thanksgiving lunch is 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. tomorrow at the Rock Island Family Church, 545 W. Rock Island Ave., in Boyd. For a ride, call the church at (940) 433-8200 or Faye at (817) 944-8353.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY – The Wise County Historical Society meets noon Thursday for lunch and a business meeting at the Wise County Heritage Museum.

PHS REUNION – The Paradise High School Class of 1962’s 50th reunion (which will also include the classes of 1961 and 1963) is 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at Catfish O’Harlies on U.S. 81/287 north of Decatur. For more information, call LaNell Earnest at (940) 433-2758.

SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS – Applications for the Bridgeport Spirit of Christmas are available at the Bridgeport Public Library, 2159 10th., on U.S. 380, and must be returned to the library by noon Wednesday.

AUXILIARY HOLIDAY STORE – The Wise Regional Hospital Auxiliary will open its annual holiday store 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church, 104 S. Miller St., in Decatur. Lunch will be served for $5 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It includes chili or soup with cornbread, dessert, iced tea and coffee. Shop for gifts, handmade items, baked goods and Christmas decorations. There is also a $500 cash raffle. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. Drawing is Dec. 3.

HOLIDAY BAZAAR – The North Texas Community Hospital annual holiday bazaar and fundraiser is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday in the hospital lobby, 1905 Doctors’ Hospital Drive in Bridgeport.

SHELTER HOURS – The Wise County Animal Shelter has new hours. Starting today, the shelter is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

FUNERALS – Service for J.R. Eubanks, 64, of Bridgeport is 2 p.m. today at Grace Fellowship Church in Paradise with burial at East Bridgeport Cemetery. Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport is handling arrangements.

FUNERAL for Ruth M. Gardner, 90, of Decatur is 10 a.m. today at Grace Baptist Church in Decatur with burial at Pleasant Grove No. 1 Cemetery. Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur is handling arrangements.

MEMORIAL service for Leonard V. Placker Jr., 66, of Newark is 11 a.m. Wednesday at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas. Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd is handling arrangements.

FUNERAL for Jessica Dell Cragg Prince, 57, of Newark is 2 p.m. Thursday at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home with burial at Aurora Cemetery. Family visitation is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

SERVICE for Loyd Peel, 92, formerly of Boyd is pending at Christian-Hawkins.
