Two people were seriously injured this afternoon in Decatur when an 18-wheeler ran off U.S. 287 about 5:30 p.m. and crashed into a car in the Panda Express parking lot. The driver, whose name has not yet been released, was transported by helicopter to Texas Health Fort Worth Hospital, formerly known as Harris Hospital.

According to eyewitnesses, the 18-wheeler was traveling southbound on U.S. 287 when it ran off the road, down the embankment and into the Panda Express parking lot where it crashed into a Chevy Cobalt. The Cobalt then hit a Pontiac Sunfire, which hit a Dodge pickup.

A woman in the Cobalt was injured and transported to Wise Regional Health System in Decatur. Initial reports indicate her injuries are not life threatening. Investigators are still on scene. More information will be posted as it’s available.

  1. This is bad enough but now this brings up the thought of how bad it could have been had he ran into the Murphy Gas station. Could have been catastrophic.Hope everyone recovers well from their injuries!
