2 FLOWN FOLLOWING WRECK – Two men were seriously injured in a car accident north of Alvord Wednesday afternoon around 3. Dillon Coslow, 19, was southbound on U.S. 81/287 when his pickup veered to the left for unknown reasons just prior to crossing the bridge over County Road 1590. DPS Trooper Tim Murphy said the pickup ran through the guardrail, down the embankment, across the street and up the embankment on the other side before coming to rest in the median of U.S. 81/287. Coslow and his passenger, Bobby Brown, 45, of Fort Worth were flown to John Peter Smith Hospital with “traumatic injuries,” according to the police scanner. The southbound lanes of traffic on the highway were rerouted to the service road, but the road was reopened just before 4 p.m.

MAMMOGRAPHY SCREENING – The Moncrief Cancer Institute is funding a mammography screening Saturday at Weatherford College Wise County. Participants must be preregistered and can do so by calling 1-800-405-7739. These grant-funded mammograms are available to women without insurance who meet eligibility guidelines.
BENEFIT ACCOUNT – A benefit account for Joseph “Joey” Hake has been set up at First State Bank. Hake was in a car accident last week and was flown to Parkland Hospital with burns to his abdomen. Donations will go toward his medical expenses and may be made at locations in Runaway Bay, Bridgeport, Paradise and Chico.
FALL FESTIVAL – Stagecoach Rehabilitation will host a fall festival 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 2108 15th St. in Bridgeport. There will be a bounce house, super-size slide, obstacle course, popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones, carnival games and prizes. For information, call (940) 683-8500.
