DECATUR FATALITY – A Decatur resident was killed when she was struck by a motorcycle on U.S. 81/287 near the U.S. 380 bypass around 5:30 this morning. Decatur Police Chief Rex Hoskins said Juana Leon Munoz, 58, was running across U.S. 81/287 from the northbound lanes to the southbound lanes when she was struck by a motorcycle operated by Bryant Eudy, 32, of Decatur. Eudy was coming off the entrance ramp from U.S. 380 to the southbound lanes of U.S. 81/287 when the accident happened. Eudy was transported to Wise Regional Health System with non-life-threatening injuries, Hoskins said. Munoz was apparently walking to the Holiday Inn where she works. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Jan Morrow who ordered an autopsy, Hoskins said.

EARLY VOTING – It was another strong turnout in early voting yesterday with 980 Wise County residents casting votes. That included 650 at the Decatur Civic Center, 168 at the Bridgeport Law Enforcement Center and 162 at Rhome City Hall. That means that nearly 10 percent of all registered voters in Wise County have voted in the first three days of early voting. Early voting continues 8 a.m.-5 p.m. today at the three locations.

HALLOWEEN PARTY – Elementary-aged children are invited to the Decatur Public Library’s Children’s Halloween Party at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31. Come in costume for stories, activities, and trick or treating. Call the library at (940) 393-0290 for more information.

REUNION - The Decatur High School Class of 2002 will hold its 10-year class reunion at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Black Creek Pumpkin Patch. Entry fee is $10, and proceeds will benefit the Brian Peyton fund.

BYA BASKETBALL – Boyd Youth Association will hold the final two basketball signups for grades 3-6 from 6-8 tonight at the middle school gym and 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at the high school football field.

BENEFIT SALE – A benefit sale for Kountry Kidneys (a Kidney Foundation walk team) is 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday at 724 Farm Road 2123 in Bridgeport. All items are new.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY – The Wise County Historical Society meets noon today at the Wise County Heritage Museum. Penny Nixon with Texas Parks and Wildlife will speak on how to recognize antiquities in items of nature.

AUTUMN TEA – St. John’s Catholic Church Parish Life Ministries will host an Autumn Tea 1 to 3 p.m. today at the church (1801 Irvin St. in Bridgeport). RSVP to (940) 683-2059 or (940) 389-1194. All are welcome.

FALL PANCAKES – Morris Memorial United Methodist Church of Chico will have a fall bazaar and pancake breakfast starting at 7 a.m. Saturday. The bazaar includes crafts, gift baskets, homemade baked goods and a giveaway of a 39-inch flat screen television. Cost of the breakfast, cooked by the Chico Dough Boys, is $5 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under. The church is located at 302 S. Weatherford St.

BENEFIT EXPO – Citibank in Decatur is having a Business Expo 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. tomorrow and 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday featuring local, small businesses, and a portion of the proceeds benefits the Spirit of Christmas. There will be shopping, raffles and door prizes.

CALENDARS FOR SALE – Wise County Special Needs Baseball representatives will sell 2013 (16-month) calendars 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday at Citibank in Decatur. The calendars feature artwork from local special needs individuals, and all funds raised will go to build a Miracle League baseball field to accommodate all players regardless of disability.

PARADISE CHAMBER – The Paradise Chamber of Commerce will have their board meeting at the Bridgeport Country Club at noon today.
