SCHOOL DEDICATION – Northwest ISD will have a dedication ceremony for Truett Wilson Middle School 7 tonight at 14250 Sendera Ranch Blvd. in Fort Worth. The school is located in the Sendera Ranch neighborhood near Haslet. Wilson was a former NISD superintendent and also a teacher and coach for area schools including Paradise, Decatur and Justin.

VETERANS DAY PROGRAM – The Wise County Veterans Group will conduct their annual Veterans Day program 11 a.m. Saturday at the Wise County Veterans Park in Decatur. The guest speaker for the program will be State Rep. Phil King.

CELEBRATING VETERANS – Veterans Appreciation Day is Saturday in Rhome. A formal veterans ceremony is 11 a.m. to noon in the Veterans Park, and speaker is Congresswoman Kay Granger. Festivities continue 1 to 5 p.m. with free hot dogs, drinks and live music at the Family Park where veterans’ photos will be displayed.

VOLLEYBALL PLAYOFFS – The Decatur Lady Eagles beat Krum Tuesday night to win the regional quarterfinal, 25-12, 25-17, 25-12. They will face Kaufman in the regional semifinal at the Class 3A Region 2 tournament 8 p.m. Friday at Mesquite Poteet High School. If they win, they’ll play in the region final Saturday.

CO-OP BRISKETS – Wise Electric Co-op is selling holiday briskets for $40 and hams for $45, with proceeds benefiting various charities. Orders must be placed by 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, by calling (940) 627-2167. Pick-up is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21.

HOLIDAY BAZAAR – North Texas Community Hospital Auxiliary’s Holiday Bazaar and Fundraiser is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, in the hospital lobby. Proceeds benefit the scholarship fund. Merchants interested in a booth may call Marti Hines at (940) 626-9455.

SHARED MEAL – Balsora Baptist Church invites the public to their annual community Thanksgiving dinner Sunday at 108 CR 3623, outside Bridgeport. King’s River will play at 4 p.m., and the meal is at 5:30 p.m. Call (940) 748-2527 for more information or visit www.balsora.net.

HISTORY LESSON – The Bridgeport Historical Society and the students of Bridgeport ISD invite the public to the Bridgeport Stage 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, to learn about the significance of the Butterfield Overland Stage and other trails that have traversed the area. Refreshments will be provided at the free event.

VA FAIR – A VA Health and Benefits Fair is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the Bridgeport Family Clinic, 806 Woodrow Wilson Circle. Veterans can learn about VA programs that are available and receive flu shots.

EXCEL CLASS OFFERED – The Decatur Public Library is offering an Introduction to Microsoft Excel class 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15. The class is free, but registration is required. Call the library at (940) 393-0290 for more information or to register.

RIBBON CUTTING – The Decatur Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting 11:30 a.m. today at M&M Inspections, 3364 S. U.S. 81/287, in Decatur.

LOGO WANTED – Wise Performing Arts Guild is holding a design contest for an official logo for their organization. The winning design will be used in all their print media, and the winner will receive $100. Submissions are due by 3 p.m. Saturday. GRAVESIDE service for Danny Thomas, 54, of Nocona is 2 p.m. today at Nocona Cemetery. Scott-Morris Funeral Home in Nocona is handling arrangements. Thomas was a coach and teacher in Alvord.

GRAVESIDE service for Jack Keener, 77, of Southlake is noon Friday at Aurora Cemetery. Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd is handling the service.

SERVICE for Loren “Jack” Eison, 78, of Runaway Bay is pending at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
