HART HEADS TO ALVORD – After two seasons at Bridgeport as a defensive assistant in football and head track coach, Pete Hart is heading to Alvord to serve as defensive coordinator and boys track coach. Alvord Athletic Director Curtis Enis confirmed the hire Wednesday. Hart, who was previously the head football coach and athletic director at Chico, said he wanted an opportunity to be a defensive coordinator again. Enis is still looking to fill the softball coaching job. Last year’s softball coach Ryan Starnes accepted a job for the same post at Brock.

CHEER CAMP – Bridgeport High School will hold a mini cheer camp 9 a.m.-noon June 25-26 at the BHS gym. Cost is $55 ($10 for students on the free lunch program). Enrollment deadline is Saturday. PANCAKE SUPPER – First United Methodist Church in Decatur will have a fundraiser pancake supper 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 26. Cost is $6 for adults and $4 for kids 12 and under. Proceeds benefit a trip to visit a church United Methodist sponsors in the Czech Republic.

AUTHOR VISIT – The Decatur Public Library and the Decatur Library Foundation are holding a book signing and Q&A with author/journalist Julia Heaberlin 6 to 8 p.m. today. MUSICAL CELEBRATION – The Crafton Cemetery Association will have a musical celebration Saturday at Crafton Baptist Church fellowship building (2590 FM 2127). Food will be sold at 5:30 p.m., a cake auction at 6 p.m. and music at 6:30 p.m. Performers includes J.D. Clark and Carson Sands. Admission is $5 for adults and children 12 and under free. Proceeds will be used for cemetery repairs and upkeep.

SUMMER READING – Kids can participate in a Rhythm Path drum circle at the Chico Public Library today. The program is 10:30 a.m. to noon. Call (940) 644-2330 for information.

BLOOD DRIVE – A Carter BloodCare blood drive is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today in front of Wise Regional Health System in Decatur. Donors will receive a “buy one, get one free” voucher for Texas Rangers tickets. For more information, call Annette Raley at (940) 626-0167.

GRAVESIDE service for Faye Reeder, 81, of Decatur is 2 p.m. today at Bomar Point Cemetery in Wilson, Okla. Family visitation is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service at Alexander Funeral Home in Wilson. Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur is handling arrangements.

FUNERAL for Keith William Jozwiak, 30, of Decatur is 4 p.m. Friday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel.

SERVICE for Mildred Irish, 97, of Decatur is pending at Coker-Hawkins.

FUNERAL for Lorene Reed Whatley, 93, of Decatur is 2 p.m. Saturday at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Decatur with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family visitation is one hour prior to service at the church.
