A HOME FOR A VETERAN – Wendell Berry Jr., a founder of WC Challenger Charities, is running “1,000 miles till home,” to raise awareness of the group’s latest outreach – homes for wounded war veterans. In partnership with the Military Warriors Support Foundation, they plan to give a home to a veteran at the 2013 J.W. Hart Professional Bull Riders Challenge in June. To do this, they need to raise $20,000. Berry started in September and has run 389.5 miles to date. He plans to log 1,000 miles prior to the bull riding and home giveaway this summer. To follow his progress and donate to the cause, visit www.1000milestillhome.com. You can also mail donations to WC Challenger Charities, P.O. Box 1238, Decatur, TX 76234. A full story on WC Challenger’s latest efforts ran in the Dec. 22 issue of the Messenger. You can also read the story at wcmess.com/challenger.
