Texting while driving is believed to be the cause of a wreck that seriously injured a woman Friday evening.
From evidence recovered at the scene, investigators believe Lindsay Adams, 29, of Rhome was texting while driving southbound on U.S. 287, just north of Farm Road 407 north of Rhome.
Witnesses say Adams left the roadway and hit a culvert, causing her to flip at least six times before the pickup came to a rest on its side in the bar ditch.
Adams was flown from the scene to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth with non-life threatening injuries. Scanner reports indicated Adams was unconscious, but she regained consciousness as she was being transported.
An off-duty deputy and nurse and uniformed soldier and other witnesses assisted Adams until first responders arrived.
No one else was injured.
