One person killed in a four-vehicle accident

One person died in a four-vehicle accident about 5 a.m. Thursday on U.S. 287 at Ramhorn Hill Road south of Rhome. The north- and southbound lanes remain closed at 7:30 a.m., and as of 6:45, traffic was backed up in the southbound lanes to County Road 4840, at the Flower Ranch. DPS troopers have not yet released all the details of the accident, but two pickups and two 18-wheelers were involved. The driver of one 18-wheeler died at the scene, and one of the pickup drivers was transported to Wise Regional Health System. In addition to DPS troopers, Rhome Fire Department and Boyd Police Department also responded to the accident. More information will be posted as it’s available. Messenger photo by Joe Duty.
