For the second time in three days, a descent onto the runway at Decatur Municipal Airport turned into a crash landing.

Pilot Robin Lawson, the only occupant of the Beechcraft Bonanza, “hit the wrong button” when attempting to land around 10:30 Sunday morning, coming to a skidding halt on the middle of the runway.

“As he was landing, he meant to hit the button to retract the flaps but hit the landing gear and retracted the landing gear instead,” said Decatur Police Chief Rex Hoskins.

Lawson, of North Richland Hills, was not injured. Decatur firefighters doused the plane and its surrounding for a small fuel spill.
