A 62-year-old man from Lake Dallas suffered several injuries after he rammed his motorcycle into a boer goat at 3:30 today on County Road 1180. The accident occurred about a half-mile west of U.S. 287 and a few miles north of Decatur. Robert Looney was transported by ambulance to Wise Regional Health System in Decatur for a broken collarbone, lacerations and other injuries. From there he was flown by helicopter to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth as his condition worsened. He was not wearing a helmet. The goat was killed instantly. A Department of Public Safety State Trooper said Looney was westbound when he ran into the goat crossing the road. State Trooper Zeb Siebeneck said the goat had the right of way. “This is a county road,” he said. “Animals have the right of way. If this was an interstate it would be different. But on these roads you have to watch out for animals.” Passersby said goats frequently cross the road at that location.

Poor little goat.
